Synthesis Essay

Directions: The following prompt is based on the sources we have considered over the last week. This question requires you to synthesize a variety of sources into a coherent, well-written essay. When you synthesize sources, you refer to them to develop your position and cite them accurately.
Your argument should be central; the sources should support the argument.
Avoid merely summarizing sources.
Remember to attribute both direct and indirect references.

Introduction

The right to privacy has been debated in both private and political sectors. What is the
right to privacy? Does the civilian of the information age have the entitlement to privacy
or does the government have a duty to supercede the rights of the citizen to insure
domestic safety?

Assignment

Read the following sources (including any introductory information) carefully. Then, in
an essay that synthesizes at least four of the sources for support, take a position that
defends, challenges, or qualifies the claim that the government has a right to insure
domestic safety superceding the right to privacy of its citizens.

Refer to the sources as Source A, Source B etc.; titles are not included for your
convenience.
