Argument/Persuasion
Most people think that eating healthy is just the key to a healthy life, but in fact it takes more than just eating right to be healthy. Exercising is also a key essential to being healthy. Sleeping the appropriate amount of time (8 to 10 hours), taking the correct amount of vitamins, and consuming the right amount of carbohydrates and calories can also keep people healthy. It may all sound like hard work but in the end it pays off because the body feels better and there is less chance of becoming sick. It is good for everybody and should be taken seriously.
A daily routine could consist of having a healthy breakfast after sleeping for 8 hours then keep the body busy so that the calories burn off. Eat a healthy lunch and dinner making sure to not overly eat. Exercising could be done at any time of the day and should be 30-60 minutes long. This will burn off the extra calories ad carbohydrates. If this is done everyday then people can look forward to a long happy life.
Poor dieting, lack of sleep, and not exercising could lead to the calories and carbohydrates storing themselves in the body. Over time they turn into fat and can become hazardous to the person’s life. The person will become fatigued, sluggish, and eventually immobile if the fat collects to extreme measures. This could lead to early death, diabetes, or a heart attack. These are the reasons why taking care of the body correctively should be taken seriously.

Certain words have been changed by slang over years that they soon lose their true meaning. Nazi’s is just one of those words that have lost their true meaning. The true meaning of nazi's is a member of the national socialist german workers' party under Adolf Hitler's rule. A lady goes to a soup resturaunt and orders soup, while waiting she trys to get into a nice conversation with the chef. In return the chef gets impatient with her and yells, "No soup for you! Go away and don't come back for a year! Next!" The woman is angered by this and yells back, "You're a 'soup nazi'!" This is not the correct term for this word because he is not under the rule of Hitler, all he did was deny her of soup. She used it as a term of being controling and unpleasant. There are also many other examples as to where teachers give out too much homework to being a "fashion nazi". These are all meaning that the "nazi" is picky, controling, and unpleasant. These ways of using the word has gone on so long that the actual meaning of nazi is barely ever used.

Classification
A child goes to school in which there are five kinds: pre-school, elementary school, middle school, high school, and finally college. A child goes to each one and increases it's knowledge each year, from learning how to say there abc's and 123's to doing trigonometry and having a vast vocabulary. If the child is lucky and try hard enough he or she may get accepted into a certain college and end up being successful in life. Animals have a "school" too, they learn how to survive in the wilderness either by their parents or by common sense. They learn how to hunt and defend themselves in case of danger, but no animal can learn the things we learn and become successful in it. They have no use for the knowledge that we learn over the years of our lives. Although they both are in common because both are a way of survival and defending, they are not alike in any other way. Even as we get older our knowledge still increases making us prepared for other challenges to come in our way. Animals do this too, now this is being explained as humans vs. other beings, example a lion. A lion has a cub and teaches this cub to hunt and to fight which they practice with their siblings. Now when this cub gets old enough and has learned enough to be able to live out on it's own it does so. Humans do this too, learning how to take care of themselves from parents to school, then finally let out on their own to see if they survive.

Division/Analysis
Most people think that making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is hard but to some people it would be hard. They may never have even seen a PB and J sandwich which would make it difficult for them to make in the first place. They have to get the bread, peanut butter, and jelly, and even that in it self can be a hard thing to do. They are many different varieties to each of these things. After finally making a descision they can buy the stuff and bring it home. They then have to take out two slices of bread and put it on a single paper plate. Now if making the sandwich is going to be hard think of the person that has to tell them how to make it. The person has to be sure to be very detailed and specific as to not confuse the other person. In it self both people are in a hard spot. After finally figuring it out and each person understands eachother they can come to a nice PB and J sandwich. Both had to struggle and retry over and over again but they finally got it right. Now the person has finally made a PB and J sandwich and knows how to make it "correctly".

Cause and Effect
Many schools need alot of work done on them, but some districts think that their school is fine or they do not even have enough money to fix up the school. For example, Greenfield High School needs to have their ceilings fixed, need more books, and even more than that. The causes being that we do not have enough money. If there was enough money going around then GHS would not have all these problems. There are even worse schools than GHS though that are in worse conditions. They have no money whats so ever to spare, so something should be done. The districts or who ever is in charge of money for the schools should do something to help out. This would also help on a students education because they would have every opportunitty open to them. They would not have to struggle to get a book to do a simple class assignment; teachers would not have to waste paper by making copies of certain pages in books because there was not enough books. This would work out even better because then the papers could be used on more important things like tests for everybody or an assignment guideline.

Argument/Persuasion:

The legal drinking age since 1933 has always been 21, but in society today more people underage drink than those of legal aged adults. The most recent argument is; should the drinking age be lowered? If voted upon, the citizens of the United States would pass the law to advance the age of drinking above 21, than lowering the drinking age below.
Back in the 1970s children would sit down at the dinner table with their parents and have a glass of wine, rarely would any of those children become alcoholic. The advantage to being able to start drinking at a young age teaches children the responsibility of drinking. Being allowed to have alcoholic drinks so young benefits society based on the fact that it is no longer used as weapon against parents and society to rebel.
Many under aged children are thought to be “getting back” at their parents by drinking, when in reality it is hurting the child. The more taken away from the child the more rebellious the child becomes. By dinking, not only is it is another source of death in society, but it also the main reason why children rebel.
Children throughout their lives are held on a leash; the older and more responsible the child becomes the more easygoing the child’s parents are. When the leash is held tight and then let go, the child rebels in every way s/he possibly can think of. In the end it is alcohol that is always the first rebellious move a child makes.
They’re also pros to keeping the age 21 or higher, because the children who have drinking problems as teenagers are more likely to become prone to alcoholism. As more alcoholism spreads throughout the United States the less likely children will stay responsible with this privilege.

Argument/Persuasion:
Barry Bonds is known as the best home run hitter of all time. Could this be true even though he took steroids? Could he even be classified as the best even though he cheated in order to receive the title? Barry Bonds admitted himself to the grand jury that he did use two substances that contained some sort of steroids. Here’s my question, if he didn’t know what he was taking why he would use it. Before the 2001 season Barry Bonds never hit more than 50 home runs in a season. During the 2001 season he nearly had that before the all-star break. Can somebody explain to me how this is possible? If somebody of his caliber has nothing to hide why not take a drug test. He refuses to take a drug test; I think if you’re clean you should have nothing to hide. Barry Bonds’ girlfriend from 1994 to 2003 admitted to congress that she watched her boyfriend inject himself with steroids. This man who’s described as the best home run hitter of all time, who’s eclipsed almost every single home run record has been cheating all of this time, is it really fair to say he’s the best when it’s not just him who’s hitting the home run. Babe Ruth the old home run king never used steroids or any performance enhancing drug and still hit 714 home runs. I think that Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth should be described as the best home run hitters ever but Barry Bonds should be called the best home run hitter of the steroid age.

Baseball is a rather complex sport which combines both mental and physical ability in order to achieve greatness. Baseball is not an individual game it is a team game but you have parts that are dyer to your team. For instance you short stop not only is a short stop the center of the field and generally your best player, but he is the guy who keeps everybody focused on the game. A shortstop is the leader on the field he takes charge with the glove and with his leadership. In order to be a short stop you have to have a strong grasp on the game, you need the ability to move side to side, make the diving play in the hole and still get up and make the perfect through in time to first. If you’re the shortstop you have to take control of the pitcher also. If the pitcher is getting a little shaky it’s the shortstops job to jump in and calm him down. The shortstop is generally the heart and soul of the team because he’s normally one of the best players on the team and will give anything he has in order to win the game. He’ll bust his butt in order to get that extra hit or put that extra bit to get the guy at first. If you need him to cheer he’s right there to yell for them.
Cause and Effect:
The NHL lockout is a very touchy matter to diehard hockey fans. The NHL’s representatives and the owners of the teams have not yet reached an agreement on the salary caps for the teams. The owners obviously want a lower salary cap because they want to make more profit for themselves while the players feel they put the fans in the stands and should have a higher salary cap. Since the owners feel they need to save a little bit of money by making a salary cap while the players feel they should be able to make any amount of money that they possible can. Since the two couldn’t find a solution for the problem before the season they have ruined the whole hockey season for not only the players but for the fans. If the owners and players could’ve agreed on an agreement the fans wouldn’t have had to suffer through watching women’s college basketball or Nascar racing instead of watching something entertaining such as hockey. The greediness of the owners and the players have caused them to stay in a deadlock and ruin the whole entire NHL season for the fans. Now instead of the owners and
players making millions of dollars they’re barely making anything.

Division and Analysis:
The perfect swing for a baseball player is the hardest thing to learn for the simple fact that there is a flaw in every players swing. How minute depends upon how hard you work on it. In order to find the perfect swing for yourself you first have to find the perfect stance. For most professional players its shoulder length apart but it really depends on you comfort. The first thing you look for it how relaxed the player is. If the player is really relaxed than it is pretty clear that they know what they are doing at the plate. After that the next thing is the step as the pitcher is going into the wind up which as I was always taught is for timing purposes and to get your body going that way. Then you have to cut your hands down and twist your wrists in order to make contact with the ball and to speed up your bat speed. While doing this you twist you hips which is really a natural response to the last step. Then one of the most important part occurs which is the follow through which is where all the power is either saved or released. Then finally there is the back foot pivot. The perfect swing in baseball isn’t possible you can just try to get better. The best swing in baseball is Ken Griffey Jr’s it’s the smoothest thing you’ll ever see.

Classification:

There are three major divisions in college athletics separated by the schools athletic ability. The first of the three major divisions in college is Division I. Division 1 sports is for the premier amateur athletes looking to be scouted from professional sport teams. As you go down through the rankings the ability of the players and their chances of becoming a pro sink significantly. If you play D2 baseball you’re still there to be scouted by the pro’s but the chances of you becoming a pro are not very likely. As you go to D3 baseball it’s more or less to have fun because the chances of you being scouted are unlikely. If you look at the amount of scholarships that are given to D1 players is significantly higher than those who are D2 and D3 schools if they get any scholarships at all. This is because D1 sports attract a bigger fan base and make more money for the university. The amount of money given to D2 and D3 programs are far less than the ones that are given to D1 for that very same reason, if the University is making money from it they aren’t going to give back money to it.

To be an honor student is a great accomplishment. It means that the individual is a hard worker, they are responsible, and they are smart. These student hands their work in on time, they spend time and effort into making their projects the best that they possibly can, and they don’t slack off in class. Honor students are considered the cream of the crop, the smart ones, the ones that are going to grow up and do something amazing with their lives, and work in top quality fields of industry. These students take advanced classes and most participate in extracurricular activities of some kinds. The honor student is the one that the average student is going to have to compete with for a spot in college. The honor student is the one that your parents are going to compare you to, no matter what your strengths in other areas besides academics may be. Any parent would be proud to have an honor student as their child to brag about to all of their friends. Honor students are another breed of human beings, they are above the average, and have worked hard to achieve all that they have. These students are to be respected, not considered suck-ups or geeks, simply because of their level of intellectual intelligence. 3/21/05

In gymnastics, there are two basic ways to flip. You can either go backwards or you can go forwards. However, although they are both considered a flip, are two entirely different tricks. Compare the take off for the two. When performing a front flip, you run, jump and throw your arms forward rotating your body around in the air. When performing a back flip, you stand still, jump up into the air, throw your arms back and tuck your body into a ball to revolve once in the air before coming down. Front flips have blind landings, meaning you can’t see the floor before you land to spot where to plant your feet. With a back flip instead of having a blind landing, you have a blind takeoff, meaning when you land, you can see the floor to spot your landing.
When performing a back flip, the gymnast tends to run and do a tumbling pass consisting of at least a round-off back handspring to get more momentum for the flip. With front flips however, you actually lose momentum when you start to add other elements to the sequence. So as you see, although these tricks are extremely different, they are still classified under the same category.

Michael Jackson can definitely be classified as strange. He can be classified as crazy and he can even be classified as mentally unstable, but a child molester, he is not. The recent trials circulating this pop star can be seen on every news channel and read about in every tabloid. Is he innocent or is he guilty. I personally am not a big fan of Michael Jackson, but on this particular subject, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. There’s simply not enough evidence supporting the child’s claim. Not only is there lack of evidence coming from the victim, but there is also a huge lack of credibility. Any jury in the world should be able to see this.
The mother of the victim has been convicted of lying under oath before, simply to gain money for herself, and even one of her children has admitted that his mother has asked him to lie for her in order to gain wealth. Based on this fact by itself, there shouldn’t even be a question as to whether or not the molestation has happened. If there was circumstantial evidence to support the victim’s claim then that would be another story, but there’s not, therefore, the trial should be dismissed and the charges should be dropped. There’s too much reasonable doubt for Michael Jackson to be convicted under child molestation charges.

Hitting a volley ball over a net seems to be an easy enough task. Actually getting the ball over isn’t too hard, you just need strength and a good swing with your arm. For regular gym volleyball, this works fine. But when playing on a team in real games, it’s a little different. Knowing where to place the ball after you serve, the amount of strength and power you want to put into your serve, and whether you want it o go high or low all are included in the definition of a good server. For a high serve that doesn’t require a lot of power, you might want to serve it underhand, or lightly hit it overhand. If you choose the latter, you need to throw the ball up high and not snap your wrist as you come in contact with the ball. This causes the ball to soar into the air, and not down to the ground.
If you want your serve to be hard and low, you have to hit it overhand and use all the strength you can muster. This involves snapping your write when you come in contact with the ball. These serves are the hardest to return. The light high serves are good to use after a few hard serves to shake things up and give the other team something they wouldn’t expect.
Once you decided where you want the ball to go on the other court, you need to place you feet. You want to keep them slightly apart and angled at the area you want the ball to land. Once your feet are placed, choose your serving style, and watch what happens.
Cause and Effect

The decision to drop out of school is a big one, and not an easy one to make. You have to think of all your possible options and choose the one that is most beneficial to the individual. People have a variety of reasons why they may choose this path. Some have difficult family situations at home, some have problems in school, and some just don’t like school at all and choose to take the easy way out.
But is it the easy way out? Let’s say the individual drops out at sixteen years of age. Perhaps the parents don’t approve of their child’s decision and insist they move out or get a job to support themselves and contribute to the household. How many jobs are there for high school drop outs? How many career paths can you choose with no high school diploma? Not many. The person is most likely going to end up flipping burgers or selling school supplies at Wal-mart for the rest of their life. This isn’t going to bring in a good income to support the individual, and especially not a good enough income to support this person’s family, should they have one.
The choices you make are going to affect the rest of your life, so when your going to make a big one like deciding to drop out of high school, you need to think about the consequences.

Most professional trumpet players understand the basics of tuning their horn. The player could rely only on the quality; however, the concept depends on both the player and the instrument. Manufacturers have spent millions of dollars on producing a high-quality horn that will take care of the tuning by itself. Over time, these big companies have discovered that this goal is not possible. When a player is preparing for a concert, tuning is the first step. The air pressure and embouchure affect how the note flows through the bell. There is a physical and mental aspect to tuning an instrument to perfection. The sound of a note can be off, even if the tuning is correct. Being in tune requires more than a good horn. Trumpeters can alter the outcome using their mouths, or the tuning slide on the horn. Air pressure affects how strong the note is, whether it is clear or wavering. The embouchure, whether tight or loose, becomes a mental step. A player must hear the note in their head in order to have a strong sound. Just like the tuning slide, one’s embouchure can make the note sharp or flat. The player must work in conjunction with the horn to obtain the desired sound.

Classification

There are two ways of applying valve oil to a trumpet: through the bottom and removing the valves entirely. Beginner players such as elementary and middle school students use the fast and easy way of turning the horn upside down and inserting the nozzle into the holes of the caps. While this is faster, the oil runs straight to the pads and has a weaker effect. A professional musician or an intermediate student would take the time to remove each valve, smear the oil throughout the spring and valve, then replace the valve. Though this takes more time, the effect is stronger. The oil is able to make its way through the entire piece and not just streaming out the top. After turning the horn back the right way and pushing each valve down, the oil tends to leak out through the bottom. The trumpet’s condition is not effected short term through either method, though the longer and more advanced way is better in the long run. Each time a valve is pushed down it rubs onto the side and can strip the metal. Valve oil is meant to help the speed of the valves; it can also help the condition of the horn over time.

When a student finds and discreet way of relating their musical skills into other activities, they have the drive to become a section leader. They seek extra help through lessons that are not necessarily mandatory. Like being a team captain, the section leader shows dedication to their “sport”. In a school band, the player who demonstrates leadership qualities is first choice for the role. This duty works in conjunction with instructors and their teacher to make themselves a more rounded player. Seniority also plays a role. While there can be co-captains, generally the student with the most experience and gained trust lands the job. When a beginner or any other student struggles with a concept, it is the job of the section leader to provide the necessary assistance. A section leader must be aware of the troubles and weaker areas of the section as whole, as well as individuals. A student who can keep track of sectionals and lessons is the best candidate for the role because they can be organized. They feel there is no ending to their learning or teaching experience. There is always a power struggle between friends. Normally nobody likes to be told that they’re doing something wrong; however, the section leader needs to be able to step up and take charge.

Argument and Persuasion

Although the student body labels a bank-geek as a person completely taken by the music world, they are much more. High school band students who fully enjoy the experiences offered often posses the musical talent to do wonderful things. People may see a geek in general as someone with an un-yielding passion for a specific activity, but everyone has their diversions. A teacher might consider a band-geek to be someone with great skill and understanding, who may excel at what they do. Professional trumpet player Wynton Marsalis was once completely immersed in a musical program that fed, and continues to feed his appetite for secrets and skills. Band members often relate better to people inside the band or chorus because their personalities mesh and compliment one another, much like that of a science club or debate team. These members are not socially inept, but they show an understanding and sense of pride in the entertainment they provide. The secluded domain of the band room is a place to hangout and talk about music, or something else. It provides a sense of security for the members because they know and love the people and the atmosphere.

Cause and Effect

Sending a child off to boot camp seems too extreme to some people. Many factors play a role in a parent’s decision to do this. The most obvious reason would be to teach discipline and respect. While parents can only handle so much, shipping the child off to a place far away where they can get into no trouble at all, seems like the next logical step. Like dropping out of school, being sent to a boot camp can give a child a sense of overwhelming loss and detachment. Stress is a very large key to this extreme because it causes the parents to become snappy and irritable. If a child presses too many buttons the parents have no other choice. The situation may be out of their hands, so they place the delinquent into the hands of a trusted drill sergeant. The screaming of orders and constant surveillance has the tendency to push kids to the limit of being afraid, forcing children to respect and honor their parents. When a child acts up, they don’t register all that their parents have given up to provide them a good life. They may feel that their parents owe them something. “Putting up” with house rules and strict ones at that can cause a child to feel rebellious and finally there is nothing a mother or father can do. Many factors weigh high on the boot camp path, but like every big decision there isn’t one single cause. Stress, behavior, and personal tolerance all have an equal weight to be pulled.

Division or Analysis: Volleyball Serve
When a person starts to play volleyball, the concept of serving may seem like a reasonably easy task. One may come to realize that, under pressure from a coach, and team, your serve may become a scary part of the game. You may have to play steps over in your head of what to do, quickly, before your time limit is up. First is the stance. One must stand behind the serving line, facing the net. The foot opposite the hitting shoulder is forward. Your back knee slightly bent. You may want to think about where you want the ball to go. If you want the ball to go to the left side of the court, you could either move to the left, or just turn your hips in the direction, and the same would go for the right side. Next is the toss. Making sure your head is slightly tilted upward, hold the ball firmly in your hand, at about waist level. Bending your front leg, just a little bit, toss the ball so it falls in line with your hitting shoulder. Then comes the swing. First, choose a target. Keeping your wrist firm, make contact with the palm of the hand and the middle of the ball, fingers opened a little. Flick your wrist for control, and a “THUD!” should occur. Your hand will then follow the ball to its target, and your stress you once felt may be removed.

Classification: Gym Volleyball/Regulation Volleyball
To volleyball enthusiasts, it is easy to see that there are two different kinds of volleyball: gym volleyball and regulation volleyball. Many people first learn how to play volleyball in a gym class. Sometimes, later on, they will pursue it to a higher level, being regulation volleyball. Gym class volleyball is a very un-organized interpretation of volleyball as a sport. From personal experience, I’ve come to learn that volleyball has more rules than any other sport I know. In gym, you may have up to fifteen people on the court at the same time, whereas, with rules, you have to have six. In regulation volleyball you have two officials watching your every move, making sure you’re not performing any illegal moves, stepping over the service line, a lift, a carry, out of rotation, just to name a few. In gym, there are no officials and barely any calls. The only thing that is occasionally called is touching the net, but even that isn’t called often. The point is, to the great number of people who only seeing volleyball through gym class, thinking that it’s not a real sport, need to look further into their opinion and see that volleyball can be a difficult sport to play.

Definition: A True Best Friend
A friend is often defined as a person who knows, likes, and trusts you. However, a best friend is so much more than that. A best friend is one who is there for you, even when you’re in a grouchy mood. A best friend is someone who will tell you honestly, how you look. They will tell you if you have something stuck in your teeth, and give you a mirror, so you can see it, to pick it out. Their shoulder will be there for you to cry on when you’re sad or hurt. A best friend will lend you their car, even if they’re afraid you’ll crash it. They will trust you more than anyone, and make sure they keep you updated on all the latest gossip. A best friend will take your side in an argument without even knowing the other side. They will give you their homework if you forgot yours, and if you’ve been going through a tough time, they’ll finish a project by themselves, when it was intended to be a partner project. A best friend will look out for you in relationships, and tell you when they don’t seem healthy. They will help you make decisions that you can’t seem to make on your own. But most of all, a best friend will love you for you, and put up with anything your friendship brings, good and bad.

Argument/Persuasion: MCAS Graduation Requirement
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System, most known by the name MCAS, tests are unfair, and should not determine whether or not a high school student deserves their diploma. Since the MCAS graduation requirement, a large amount of students across Massachusetts have failed either Math, or English, or both. Of these students, there is a good chance that not all of them are unintelligent or lazy. These students may struggle in taking standardized tests, which in turn ruin their chances to graduate. The MCAS holds a variety of different questions and portions on different areas of learning. This test is assuming that every student has learned all of these areas in depth. What if they haven’t? Then they will not receive a diploma. I agree with testing students to see what they are learning, to better the school system, however, I strongly disagree with your whole education based on one test. Yes, the students who do not pass these tests get many chances to pass, but for some people, these retakes will not make a difference. The requirement is unfair to those you do not succeed in standardized testing, and those, whose school does not teach everything that will be presented on the test.

Cause and Effect: Why students drop out of school
A rising number of students drop out of school every year. There are many reasons why these students feel they have nothing more to do, than dropout, so they follow through with it. One reason is their lack of a strong social group. In high school particularly, there are many cliques, causing students to feel left out if they find themselves not apart of these groups. When this feeling of resentment occurs, students may decide there is no reason to be in school anymore, because they have nobody to talk to or eat lunch with, ect. Another reason for dropping out is lack of commitment. School to these people isn’t on their list of priorities. If you never do your work, you’ll get bad grades, which then students believe there’s no reason to stay in school if they are never going to do well, so they may decide to dropout. I believe the main reason for dropout rates is the lack of faculty encouragement. These students may struggle through school, get in trouble or don’t try as hard as they should. Faculty often sees troublemakers, and students who do not do well in school and criticize them, instead of helping them. They yell at them, instead of encouraging them to do well. They give up on them before helping them start. Students see how the educators think of them by their actions. If they see that administration clearly doesn’t care to help them, they figure it won’t matter if they don’t go to school anymore.

Argument/Persuasion

Homework is a big issue in a lot of teenager’s life. In school teachers spend fifty minutes a day, sometimes five days a week, explaining a chapter in a history book, or math book. Then they feel that it is necessary to give their students homework after every class, and then they’ll come back the next day and have a test. Teachers are asked constantly why they give out homework, and mostly all of them respond, “To review what we’ve learned.” It doesn’t make much sense to give homework then have a quiz or test the next day. Quizzes are just as effective as homework, if not more. Homework is rarely checked, sloppily done, or sometimes not done at all. Students don’t try very hard at homework because they know it won’t be checked, but when they take quizzes they know that they should study and it will be graded. Homework is just an excuse for teachers to get out of more work. If the homework is checked, teachers walk around the room to see a few numbers or words written on a piece of paper, they are hardly passed in. Students could pull out a letter to a friend and wave it in the air for teachers to see, and wouldn’t know what was on that paper. If it is such a waste of time for teachers to check it, then why wouldn’t it be a waste of time to students?

Many words are misused to show an expression. The word gay is the one of the most misused words in the dictionary. Gay means cheerful and joyous. One day a student got handed an assignment for a four page essay, looked his teacher in the eyes with a disgusted look on his face and said, “This is gay.” From the disgusted look on his face it could be interpreted that he was overjoyed by the essay. He was referring to the essay as being stupid and not enjoyable, which would be the exact opposite from the definition. Another misconception would be that it is the definition of homosexual. It has been used for so long that, yes; it is now a slang word for homosexuals. It’s not that it is a degrading term, homosexuals don’t take offense to the word anymore, but in reality it is misused. The word gay is so commonly used among teenagers at high school that no one thinks of it as being misused. The word doesn’t not mean stupid, it doesn’t mean someone is a homosexual, it means happy, and that’s it. This isn’t the only word that has been changed by teenagers trying to set a trend.
Cause and Effect

A lot of students take high school drop outs for granted. What if everyone started a cult and dropped out of school? No one would have a high school diploma. A lot of high quality jobs require a high school diploma or more, but if no one has a high school diploma who can fill those positions? Those high quality jobs would have to lower their standards or totally shut the building down, maybe cut positions. If they did only lower their standards then the drop outs would practically have the world handed to them. Let’s say they do shut down the building, this will cause a huge ripple effect in the business world. The higher level of business’s control the smaller factories, to make sure everything is in check, if the higher quality business’s shut down, the lower quality business’s would either turn into chaos or will eventually close down themselves, unless the drop outs win. If all the manufacturing business’s shut down we’ll all have to settle for what we already have, and for those people that always want more, and can’t stand the same scenery will have a conniption fit. The number of drop outs have almost doubled over the past few years, if it keeps at this rate, the world will be full of old things and unhappy people.
Classification

There are two types of people, pessimistic and optimistic. Pessimistic is when someone has a bad outlook on the day. Optimistic is when someone always hopes for the best and sees a good thing out of everything. Pessimistic will look at a rainy day as a bad day because they won’t be able to go outside, or walk to a friends house without being drenched. Optimistic will look at the rainy day as a perfect day to sit at home and read, or catch up on some home projects that they never got around to, and they’ll also think of the plants outside that don’t get water from the sunny day. Even if the weather was sunny, a pessimistic would think it was too hot, and they hate to sweat, and they can’t hang outside without getting all hot and sticky, so choose to stay inside. An optimist could find the sunny day a perfect day to go for a swim, or take a walk. Of course there is rarely anyone that is constantly a pessimistic or constantly an optimist. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and their mind it too cluttered with the bad to see the good, and sometimes someone is having a good day and don’t want to ruin their great day, and think about only the good. Which one are you?
Division or Analysis

When a baby begins to learn to walk it has to go through many steps. Let’s say the baby’s name is Earl. Earl has to first learn to lift himself off the ground, and get fluent in the art called crawling; it takes a while for Earl to be completely comfortable with this. After Earl is comfortable with crawling, he’ll crawl up to a coffee table or any sturdy object and slowly learn to pull himself up into the standing position. Earl will let go and fall to the ground, but eager to be able to stand he tries again. When he’s not near a coffee table, he’ll throw his arms up to a grown up. They will stand him up and he’ll try to balance himself. Once he can stand, he tries to move. Every time he lifts his foot he loses his balance and falls. He finally resorts to the coffee table where he’ll shuffle along the sides, slowly getting from one side to another. Finally Earl will get his parents attention and they are focused on helping him walk. Finally his parents will hold him up, in the standing position and slowly move in front of him. He puts one foot in front of the other, but he loses his balance, luckily his mother has a firm grip on his hands, he doesn’t fall. He finally gets the balance of walking down. His mother lets go of his hand as he clumsily walks towards her. He’ll fall a lot before he completely masters the art of walking. Finally he can walk, one foot in front of the other, and soon he can run, then Earl will grow up, with no knowledge of how he learned to walk, but knows he can.

Argument/Persuasion
Much of one’s young life is spent preparing oneself to enter the real world that lies beyond high school. However, most students are told that their future is determined by the standardized testing they are required to take while in high school. Tests such as the SATs and the ACTs assess a student’s understanding of the English language, their math skills, and their writing ability. Although all of the previously mentioned skills are important to succeed in most of the work world, testing high school students in this manner seems to provide an inaccurate view of their actual abilities. The writing skills which the SATs and ACTs test students on are vital to passing most college courses, however, not all high school students advance to higher education. Many move straight into the work force or the military where these skills are not needed to succeed. Again, after college when most graduates move into the workforce in the field of their choice most do not enter jobs which require them to be skilled in the subjects which they are tested on in high school. Overall, standardized testing does not directly assist in a person’s advanced in the real world. It only tells them which colleges they can go to in order to pave their own way in the workforce later on in life.

Throughout many middle and high schools, straight ‘A’ students can be found. Many of these students which excel in all of their classes can often be found in honors or advanced placement classes and they are able to achieve exactly what their title denotes, ‘A’ grades in all of their classes. To some students, achieving ‘A’ grades in all of their classes is effortless because learning comes easy to them. They are naturally great learners who are able to retain new information much quicker and with greater ease than the average student. For others, however, attaining ‘A’ grades in all of their classes come with much more time, effort, and struggle. These students who may not find learning as simple as others must work much harder to achieve the same grades. Long hours of studying may have to be done for them to retain the same amount of information others can memorize in a much shorter time frame. Although certain characteristics of straight ‘A’ students vary among individuals, most can be described as hard-workers who care about their success in school and beyond. No matter how easily these straight ‘A’ students attain their high grades, these students prove that they have a heightened ability and willingness to learn and succeed.

Cause and Effect
With Hollywood turning to literature for more movie material, people often miss out on the joy of experiencing a new story through reading. For decades movies based on all types of literature have been available to the masses as a type of shortcut. Instead of taking the time read a book over an extended period of time, many seek for an instance dose of literature in movie form in two hours or less. Not only does the audience lose much of the story that has been cut out of the movie because of time constraints, they miss out on the experience of discovering the story themselves. In 1911, M. Gaston Leroux published the book The Phantom of the Opera which has now been popularized by the Broadway musical and countless movies bearing the same name. Over the years nine movies have been made adapting the Phantom storyline, most of which do not hold true to the original story found in the book. Some versions follow the story closely but change certain details to cater to movie viewers, which others completely stray from the original characters completely and modernize everything. Because of these loose interpretations, the book’s story has almost been lost and many moviegoers miss out on the true story from which these movies originated from.

Classification
Although each player is assigned a position which holds its own specific duties, the individual soccer player must be able to perform more than just the tasks that their position demands they do. Closest to the opposite goal are the strikers. These two or three individuals are the main offensive players who shoot on goal most often. They must be quick in order to meet the ball up field when it is cleared by the halfbacks. The halfbacks, or midfielders, sometimes must run the full length of the field to play in order to play both offensive and defensive positions. One of their jobs is to clear the ball up the field for the strikers to get. Behind the halfbacks are the fullbacks, or defenders, the last line before their team’s goalie. As well as keeping the ball away from their goal, defenders, like midfielders, can clear the ball up field for the strikers to score. Finally, the team goalie has the difficult task of keeping the ball out of the goal. While these positions come with particular tasks, players often must switch roles in the middle of the game depending on the situation. If a midfielder has an open shot on goal they can attempt to score even though the strikers are normally the ones looking for goals. This shows that all soccer players must be versatile.

Division or Analysis
For a team to make their soccer season a success, there is much preparation needed to ensure that the individual players are ready to contribute physically and mentally to each game. Like with any sport, practice is vital in the preparation process. However, there is more to regular practices than just learning the rules and skills required to play in a game. Undoubtedly, knowing the proper soccer skills is important but players being in good physical condition in order to practice these skills. This means that some type of conditioning is necessary, such as strengthening exercises for mostly the arms and legs. Also to be able to play for an 80 minute game with little rest time, endurance to run for an extended period of time needs to be built up. Players can achieve this through regular long distance running and other means, depending on the preference of the individual. Equally as important as physical readiness is mental preparation. Players must “have their heads in the game” to concentrate on their tasks on the field while in the middle of the game. Also, they must be prepared to learn new skills during practice which they must apply to a real game. Without the physical and mental readiness to face the many games that lie ahead, it is guaranteed that the team will set themselves up for a disappointing season.

ARGUMENT/PERSUASION
September 11th still burns an image in my mind. This is why I support President Bush’s Global War on Terror at any measure. Many people question the reasons for invading Iraq. People say that Iraq is not a terrorist harboring regime, they didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, and it was a war for oil. First of all there are numerous reports and intelligence in the past that have linked the former dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein to various terrorist organizations. On October 11, 2002 a bill was passed in congress that “Authorizes the President to use the U.S. armed forces to: (1) defend U.S. national security against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and (2) enforce all relevant Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.” This states that Iraq is and was a threat to our security. And the world is now a safer place that the same man who gassed his own people has been captured. The President had also received intelligence reports that Hussein had WMD’s and a program to furthering the developments of WMD’s. The question Americans must ask is, if Saddam Hussein did have WMD’s, what would happen if they found their way into the hands of one Usama bin Laden? Is that a risk willing to take? George W. Bush thought it wasn’t and I stand by that.
DEFINITION
What is cheating in baseball? Cheating has been a part of baseball since its inception. From the Chicago Black Sox scandal of 1919, to Gaylord Perry doctoring balls, to today’s biggest baseball dilemma, steroids, baseball is filled with cheating. The recent Capitol Hill hearings proved that steroids are a problem in baseball. Just about everyone who spoke at the hearings concurred that there is a steroid problem in baseball. Now are using steroids cheating? Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds are two people who have spoken out and said that steroid use isn’t really cheating. The ironic thing is, is that both players have been harshly accused of “being juiced”. They also own the two single season highest home run totals with 70 and 73 respectively. So they’re not the most creditable sources. Cheating is using an unfair advantage to getting ahead in something. Steroids make you stronger, make you bigger, and make it easier to swing a bat at the amazing speeds both McGwire and Bonds have been known for. Yes, it does take an incredible amount of God given ability to even make contact with a 95 mile per hour fastball. But isn’t it a little weird that no body between the years of 1961 and 1997 hit more than 57 homeruns? In a game where cheating is something people are aware of and sometimes encouraged, steroid use tops the cheating lit.
CAUSE AND EFFECT
Although some people may not know, the National Hockey League is in the middle of a crippling lockout. The NHL has been decimated. Why has this happened? Both the players’ union and the team owners have been stubborn since the need for a new collective bargaining agreement. The most simple argument was that the owners wanted to have a salary cap limiting how much each team could spend and the players, seeing that this might reduce some of their pay, had nothing of it. Well now the NHL is in the middle of a lock out that will probably kill off any of its fan base in America- or what is left of it. This lockout could very well be the beginning of the dismantling of the NHL. Because of a ridiculous labor dispute, a league that has been around since the mid-1920’s could be approaching extinct. That’s not to say that the NHL hasn’t been on a decline in the last 10 years or so either. The league has struggled trying to fill seats for many reasons. A lot of ideas had been thrown around on how to fix the game. Apparently, the NHL decided that canceling the whole season because of the lockout was the best idea possible.
CLASSIFICATION
There are two types of baseball played in the majors today. Those two styles can be classified simply by the league in which they are played. There is “American League baseball and National League baseball.” The big difference between the two is the designated hitter. The DH was adopted by the American League in 1973. The National League still has not adopted it. The DH takes the place of the pitcher’s spot in the line up. The DH makes for more offense another difference between the AL and NL styles of play. Because pitchers are notoriously bad hitters, the AL does not have the “automatic out” associated with the pitcher. The playing style in the NL is a lot more technical too. For instance, managers have to deal with double switches and being able to gauge when their pitcher should be removed for a pinch hitter. The two different styles bring up many debates on which style of baseball is better. Many baseball purists believe that the DH is not good for the game and has taken away from certain aspects of the game in the last 30 years. However, others believe that the American League style is more exciting because of the greater amount of offense produced.
DIVISION/ANALYSIS
An important part of pitching is being able to change speeds with your pitches. A good way to do this is to throw a curveball which not only has a significant speed drop off but also a break or a curve, hence the name. Throwing one though can be very complicated. First of all, there is a different grip associated with the curve as opposed to the fastball. While throwing a fastball requires a lose grip, the curveball is usually a tighter grip. The middle finger requires the most pressure as it is put on the seam, and attributes for the spin that makes the ball curve or drop. After the grip, is the arm angle used to throw which is the toughest part of throwing the curveball. When throwing a fastball, the ball is usually outside the elbow when throwing. When throwing a curveball the wrist is curved in so that when releasing, the ball is right over the bicep. This should lead to a spin of the ball that makes a tumbling motion on the ball which makes it drop. A sharper snap of the wrist, makes the ball spin tighter, which leads to a sharper drop which of course is harder to hit.
And that my friends is why I suck at writing.

1. Argument/Persuasion- The argument of guitar talent is always on the table for debate. Should speed, articulation, structure, or theoretical knowledge be the criteria for true guitar talent? In my opinion it true talent cannot be composed by only one or two of these. You can teach any monkey to play as fast as Van Halen or shred like Buckethead. Along with this anyone can sit around and talk music theory all day long, but if they can’t play, then they are nothing. Knowledge of music theory is in my opinion the least important of the above listed assets. The greatest guitarist of all time, hands down is Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Page had everything as far as knowledge of music theory as well as speed and writing ability. Page wrote some of the best guitar riffs of all time and set the stage for all hard-rock guitarists to come. One may argue that guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen or Buckethead are superior guitarists to Page. This is however untrue, based on Page’s ability to play in a band context where Malmsteen and Buckethead are completely useless in band context and write music of very poor quality.
2. Definition- A husband is to work and make the majority of the money in the household. The husband, for earning the majority of the money and paying all the bills should receive no grief or sarcastic remarks from his wife for having to do the easy housecleaning and taking care of the children. To have children in the first place is ultimately that of the woman’s and the husband should not have to deal with her whining about the kids at the end of the day. If, the wife however is really that unhappy doing all the strenuous cleaning and baking cookies, then she can take over the working 40+ hours a week and paying all the bills while the husband can gracefully take over the easier of the two jobs without complaint. When a husband returns home from working his 8-hour shift there should be food on the table and be able to come home to a clean house with well mannered children. The wife is to respect the fact that the husband works a lot harder than her and understand that he doesn’t want to hear her complaining about the kids and such. She will remain silent and let him watch Sports Center while he drinks his frosty Bud Light and she massages his back.
3. Cause and Effect- Too many women are getting jobs these days. Women were created by god to cook and clean and tend to the children. Recent complaints of inequality and chauvinism have given women the confidence and power to do the unthinkable. Women have been leaving their jobs at home and going to work. This is a clear result of equality laws and women’s thinking that they can do what is traditionally a man’s job. A man is to work hard and provide for his family while the wife stays home and provides for the family. The women, in their selfishness are taking away from the cleanliness of the house, the social development of the children, and the fullness of the husband’s belly. This may be one of the many reasons that men tend to make more money and be more successful in the workplace. I mean, who do these women think they are, coming into our workplace thinking that they can do our jobs that we do. I admit I probably can’t cook and clean as well as they do, or deal with the kids, that’s exactly why that’s their job. It is a time for action to stop these equality laws once and for all and stop the irreversible effects that they cause to society.
4. Classification- In the world of guitars there is one single name that comes to mind. Gibson is the grandfather of all guitars and anyone who argues that is just ignorant. For all around quality including playability looks, and craftsmanship, Gibson is second to none. Many of the greatest guitarists ever played Gibson guitars, Franks Zappa, Jimmy Page, and Slash, just to name a few. There are competitors, however to the Gibson line. There is Fender, which is s big name in guitars, who have been played by such artists as Jimi Hendrix, and early Frank Zappa before he realized how much better Gibson is. Fender is the next guitar under Gibson and then comes Ibanez. Ibanez has become popular by making signature custom models for guitar gods Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. There are also economy models of Gibson and Fender. The Gibson economy line is Epiphone, which are made poorly, play like garbage and have poor electronics. Nobody who has a choice has ever chosen Epiphone. Fender also has a cheaper line which is called Squire which is also made badly and sounds bad.
5. Division or Analysis- Bowling a perfect strike requires skill and mastery of the ball and the lane. First of all you must select a ball to use which should be a good fit for your fingers and comfortable for you to throw. First of all you walk to the line and stare down the pins that you will soon destroy. You then visualize the attack and the placement of the ball on the lane. You then must walk back from the line and get ready to bowl. Stand off to the left of the lane slightly and quickly walk to the line and swing your arm back then forward. At the end of your swing snap your wrist to the left and roll the ball down the right side of the lane. The ball should then roll down the right side of the lane then curve as the result of the spin you put on it. The ball will hit slightly to the right of the middle pin and they all fall immediately. Repeat these steps and someday you can be as good at bowling as me.

What does the word "heart" mean? Strictly speaking, a heart is an organ of the physical body which pumps blood into the organism. The term "heart," however, extends to more than the physical body.
When lovers part, one will often claim to have a broken heart yet remain living. A saddened man or woman will often clutch the area between the ribs at the center of the chest, and moan in sorrow over a lost lover. Physical or not, the heart in this case is also something that pumps life into the emotional body.
"Don't feel bad," says a friend to another who has been discouraged by one of life's many trials. Now how can anyone feel bad? Easily, by getting discouraged. Again, the heart becomes a symbol for pumping life into a system, but not a physical one.
When one gets to the heart of the matter, she gets to its center - that which gives it meaning. When people beg, "Have a heart," they are asking you to be compassionate - to recognize the soul in another. Having a heart-to-heart talk means to share something from the center of our being with someone else. Speaking from the heart always implies communicating from what is real and essential in our lives.
Perhaps the most common definition of the word "heart," therefore, should recognize that "heart" is something essential to every human being, whether it is physical or not.

Military measures intended to support the arrest of a terrorist have turned into a large-scale attack on several of the poorest countries in the world, as well as on their populations, which is tormented by hunger and poverty and threatened by uprooting and death.

As little as the gap between rich and poor in the world was the cause of the murderous attack on Sept.11, all the more are the attacks against Afghanistan and the Philippines are deepening this gap and thereby multiplying reasons to hate the West and its civilization. In the future the West will be less identified with its best qualities, with democracy, a constitutional order and prosperity than with its shadowy sides, with a lack of respect, arbitrary acts and violence.

With every bomb that falls and every western soldier who kills on Afghan soil, the rich part of this world closes its eyes to the suffering of the peoples in the south. Even the apparent successes presently do not change this. With its offensive the West is not only undermining the idea of a collective legal effort to counteract terror, but is also betraying its own principles. In the final analysis this undeclared war is no longer being waged to combat terrorism but rather to preserve a reputation of military invincibility. Finally, with every day that war is waged there and with every new security law passed here (in the western world) , that very freedom which is supposedly being defended is threatened and those refugees, who are the products of this military action and its consequences, are marginalized.

On September 11, not only did thousands of people suffer an agonizing death, but even western civilization suffered a defeat. Those murdered in the attack will not be restored to life through the war against the Taliban. With every day of war the risk of a still greater moral and political disaster increases. It is still possible to learn from the failures experienced up to now. There is still a chance to return to negotiations and to reach a political solution which attempts to reestablish a legal order and to provide for justice and social equality in Afghanistan and in the world.

Argument/Persuasion-
Every year, seniors that follow specific standards are allowed certain
privileges, senior privileges. Juniors should be allowed a chance to
have these privileges as well. Many people say that your junior year
is the most important year in high school. This is the year that
colleges look at. Everything you do will greatly effect the years to
come. Students will be working hard and focusing on their school work
along with extra curricular activities, making this a very busy and
stressful time. If anyone, shouldn't the juniors be cut slack and
awarded for their effort. The juniors should able to leave school
during their studies and come in late to school. They is very useful
time they could be using to do what they chose, whether that be for
sleeping in or preparing for the SATS, college search, or research for
planning their future. Time that may normally be difficult to find for
any student with school, sports, jobs, and extracurricular activities,
let alone a junior with college and SATS on their mind.

Cause and Effect-
Animal abuse at a young age will often lead to human abuse later on
in life. Kids are extremely impressionable and their minds are still
developing. Children watch everything that their parents do closely
and learn form them. If a child watches a family member abuse a pet,
they grow up thinking that that is the way you're supposed to treat
all animals. Soon, they start hurting the animals themselves. At first
it may start out as a source of discipline for the animal but could
eventually lead to hurting the animal as a way to take out their
aggression. Once the child gets older, what is stopping him or her
from hitting or pushing other kids? The violence they were raised with
will be taken out in other areas in their lives. Someday when they
have kids of their own, abuse may be used as a source of discipline.
Children that watch their parents be gentle and treat animals nicely
will pick up that habit also. They will learn to be caring and soon it
will be easy to see them treat not only animals with it but friends
and family also.

Definition-
Bipolar is a mood disorder. About one percent of the population that is diagnosed with this disorder has extreme changes in mood, energy, and functioning. One minute, someone may be on top of the world and as happy as can be, chatting up a storm and be manic high. The next minute they may not be able to move due to extreme depression. This can happen over the course of a few days, weeks, months or most commonly in a matter of minutes. This is due to a disturbance in the brain that controls your mood. There is no one cause for this disorder. However, more than 60% of the people diagnosed with the bipolar disorder genetically inherited it. Usually symptoms appear in people from ages 18 to 22. If left untreated it can lead to more severe symptoms. A mild form of this illness is called cyclothymia. Their mood swings are mild and often diagnosed as having depression.

Division or Analysis-
Before actually eating any item of food you must go through a series of steps. First off you must decide what it is you actually want to eat. This means that you have to figure out exactly how hungry you are, what foods are attainable, the amount of the food, and how to eat that food. If you are extremely hungry you’ll want something that comes in quantity. If your just looking for a quick snack you may want something light. Then there is the question of what foods you have access to. Not every person can have whatever they want where ever they want. They have to go with what they’ve got. If you are at home you may have more of a variety than if you were outside or at school. Once you have a food chosen, you have to begin to think about how you are going to eat it. You need to know whether you have the right cooking items or utensils. You will be unable to pop popcorn in a classroom, or eat spaghetti without a fork in a store. After you’ve decided what to eat and how to eat it you need to begin to think about the time after you are done eating. Are you about to go for a run or have a large dinner shortly after? If so, you may want to choose something different or cut back on the amount of food you eat.

Classification-
All over the world there are many different types of animals. Many of them are very similar however, some are not. These animals can be classified by their similarities. There are two types of animals; invertebrates and vertebrates. Invertebrates are animals with a backbone or spine. Animals that belong to this group are; Protozoa, Echinoderms, Annelids, Mollusks, Arthropods, Crustaceans, Insects, and Arachnids. 95% off all animals are invertebrates. Vertebrates are animals with a backbone or spinal column. Such animals include; Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds, Mammals, Marsupials, Primates, Rodents, and Cetaceans. Characteristics vary greatly among animals in each other groups.

ARGUMENT
The modern film industry is no longer all about the art of
expression. These days, with fast food and everything nice and
convenient, a "good movie" is exceptionally hard to come by.
Mainstream studios spend millions of dollars on blockbuster hits that
everyone sees. People "love" these movies, but do they really? Is it
the movies they love, or just the fact that they are prepackaged
emotions, opinions, and thoughts for them? There is no thought
involved in sitting through a screening of Van Helsing or Raise Your
Voice, but that is how people want it. A vacation from reality where
they can sit, zone out, and ignore the fact that there is no real
humor, plot, or acting going on before them. This milquetoast
acceptance of the new mainstream movie formula is only leading to the
downfall of film as an art. Independent, low-budget films are ignored
for their lack of special effects. Even the directors themselves are
changing to CGI-animated, no-plot mental vacations. George Lucas has
ignored his original special-effects methods in favor of no sets and
CGI-animated actors, turning what could have been a great prologue to
a famous story into an epilepsy-inducing black hole of talent.

DEFINITION
Completely essential to the film-making process is a film’s director. While many times under the thumb of a studio, each director still brings his or her own style to a set. Directors define the film’s vision: what is the movie out to accomplish? The plot is interpreted in which way the director would like it to. Also, the direct must give instructions to his actors, helping them to elicit the appropriate emotion for a scene. A good director can even work with bad actors to produce a good product .Most directors must choose the film’s soundtrack, have a hand in the camerawork, and organize the scenes. Producers and directors work very closely, to the point where some directors produce as well. In the most basic terms, the director is the control freak of the set. He or she must interpret every problem and turn a most likely fictional story into a work of art.

CAUSE AND EFFECT
The national addiction to cable TV is causing a widespread lack of
imagination in American children. Kids in the U.S. watch 3-5 hours of
TV in a day, ignoring books and plays and toys that are not battery
operated. Instead of the dollhouse in the corner, the little girl
would rather watch Hilary Duff and her newest bad hair day. Studies have shown that most childhood creative and linguistic skills are developed through reading, conversing with peers and play activities. “Viewing by children of programming aimed at a general or adult audience is correlated with poor language development in preschoolers. Evidence suggests that children who are frequently exposed to such programs tend to have a lower vocabulary, poorer expressive language and to engage in less TV-talk (i.e. talking about television) with adults.”, says one study. If 3-5 hours of most children’s days are taken up by television viewing, it leaves much less time for creative to development to occur. That much T.V. leaves no time for making up stories, pretending, and reading. Let us presume that a child spends six hours in school a day on average. They come home, watch 5 hours of television. That is 11 hours. Now take out an hour for dinner. Twelve. Assume that like many children, this kid heads off to bed fairly early. That means that this hypothetical average child’s day has just been dominated by sitting and staring, leaving no time to read or play with peers. Is it really healthy for a still-developing child to sit in front of a pre-packaged idea box for 5 hours today? It would far benefit children in the United States to pick up a book instead of a remote.

CLASSIFICATION
The Euphonium and the Tuba look like they could be the same
instrument, excluding their size. Many people who haven't been exposed
to many instruments, especially the uncommon euphonium, will refer to
a euphonium as a tuba. However, there are many differences. First off
is the obvious size difference. Tubas are notoriously large and heavy
while a euphonium can easily be lifted as if the bore were a handle,
and can fit on one knee comfortably. The mouthpieces are almost
identical in design, but a tuba mouthpiece is again much larger than a
euphonium mouthpiece. The way air is projected into the horns (the embouchure) is also
very different. The euphonium is played much like any other brass
instrument, lips tight together and pushing air out through the
center. Tubas are played with loose lips, making a kind of movement
like a child imitating a horse. Euphoniums and Tubas can are both
played in the bass clef but it is not uncommon for a euphonium to be
played in the treble clef. Euphoniums are pitched the same as a
trombone but have a slightly muffled sound like a French horn.
Essentially, the euphonium (also known as a baritone horn) is a tenor
tuba. Both instruments are in the key of Bb, and compliment each other beautifully.

DIVISON OR ANALYSIS
Peoples' opinions on different movies are bound to vary greatly. One
person may call a movie fantastic, their favorite, and another may
think that the very same movie was boring, or silly. Despite the fact
that these opinions are very diverse, the criteria for what make a
"good movie" can easily be defined; it is the interpretation of these
criteria which causes the dissent. If divided into two very general
categories, the criteria for a good movie could be "How it affects
viewers" and "Technical aspects". While not everyone wants to feel the
same way when they come out of a movie, everyone at least wants to
feel something. The general populace enjoys when a film can reach out
of the fictional world and affect reality. Happy, sad, thoughtful:
most people will not like a movie if they do not feel at least
somewhat changed when they exit the theater. Then, there are the
technical aspects. Cinematography, special effects, acting, directing,
set design, costumes, and the plot itself all affect how someone views
a movie. Some people may be able to ignore a one-dimensional, simple
filming method. Others can not stand the simplicity. Subtle acting can
come off as wooden to some people, while other people find it clever.
It is these differences in interpretation that cause the differences
in opinions, and not the criteria the movie is judged by.

Division or Analysis- The perfect tennis serve. One must begin with placing themselves at the ideal spot on the court. The tennis player must be past the end line and to one side of the middle hash mark, and must serve diagonally to the opposite side. How far back and how far to the side is not specified. Now the tricky part is, the player must throw the ball horizontally up to the perfect height, a little more than the reach of the players arm and their racket put together. While the ball is on its way down the player must bring their racket up, rotate their wrist while stepping forward and hopefully connecting with the ball. Once they have achieved the ability to actually hit the ball, they now have to work on where it goes once it is hit. Aiming the ball is different with each player and there personal preference or higher strengths. Some players prefer to hit shallow and others right on the end line, some to the left and some to the right. The player’s style is a big part of the game and comes out when one sees them serve.

Definition- What is a best friend? A best friend is someone who one can trust, is there for you no matter what, who u enjoy being with, and who you overall respect. The most important quality of a best friend is someone who would not lie to you. They would tell you if your boyfriend cheated on you or if that outfit looked bad. Also you can trust that what you say to them they won’t repeat to anyone. Another important part is that your best friend is always there when you need someone to talk to or cheer you up when you’re sad. Like when you fall on your face in front of the whole school, there the one right next to you to pick you up and laugh with you. Finally one must enjoy being around this person, best friends should have hobbies that they both enjoy and also enjoy just simply hanging out. A friendship between two friends strives on one another “Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies.” (Aristotle). The mutual respect, trust and caring between the two people allows for a friendship to occur.

Cause and Effect- Students often wonder why we have this tardy policy. Let’s look at the causes of this policy. With the state focusing on the amount of students that are tardy each day, Ms. Athas must try and control this problem. The easiest way would to tell the students not to be late, and they’re not late, but that would be too easy. So she is forced to set a punishment for the students that are late. Now how the rules of tardies to school was formed, I do not know. Three tardies equal one office detention, and then every time after that its another detention. On the fifth one the student gets suspended. Now drastic measures need to be taken to show that it is not ok to be late to school. However, when the effects of these drastic measures, result in students just not coming at all to school. It is easier to have an absence from school then to get an office detention. So why doesn’t the state look at the amount of unexcused absences for each student. If the student is late there still in school but if they just don’t go, they miss a whole day of education.

Argument/Persuasion- The question ether abortion should be legal or not is hard. There are two opposing sides; there are people who think that it is murder and is completely wrong, and others who understand that there is a certain time when it is necessary. To determine whether it is murder or not one must determine when a fetus is considered alive, and that is a difficult and different subject, however. At the moment women are allowed the choice. There was a time when the government banned it. This was a hard time for women. They resorted to horrifying alternatives. These would range from coat hangers and other unsanitary objects to drinking harmful and deadly chemicals. Even making abortion illegal did not stop women; it merely led to more mothers deaths. Imagine that you, your wife, sister, mother, daughter, or any woman close to you was raped. A month later she fins out she’s pregnant. What do you do? Tell her to keep it , because there is no other alternative. Instead of completely making abortion illegal we should work to lower the overall amount of abortions, and make it harder for women to get them.

Classification- In tennis there is two main forms of hitting the ball. There is the forehand and the backhand. They both are equally effective during the tennis game. However these two kinds of swings are complete opposites. The forehand is used mainly when the ball is coming directly at you but on your strong side. The player merely swings their racket parallel to the ground to hit the ball. It is the easiest to aim the ball where you want with this swing, it being on your strong side. The backhand swing is used when the ball is coming at you but on your non strong side. This swing is harder to master but is essential to play tennis. The player must grasp above the hand that is already on the racket, while bringing it across their chest and hitting the ball. Aiming with the backhand becomes tricky but once it is mastered it is easy to take down your opponent. Each players form is different for these two swings but it gives each tennis player their own unique style.

Art Link letter, a once famous television personality, coined the phrase "Kids say the darndest things!" I have found this also to be true of friends. We all have friends, from simple acquaintances to intimate relationships, with social friends being somewhere in the middle of the span. We meet them at work, church, school and, sometimes, at meetings of various types of recovery groups. To protect the innocent (and the not so innocent), I'll refrain from naming the recovery group I attended and watched as well as any individuals involved; let's just call these individuals recovering dysfunctional. I had the pleasant misfortune of making friends with three very different types of people whom I'll call the dominators, the defenders, and the equalizers.
The dominators are those "know-it-all" types that have to be the center of attention in nearly every situation. They seem to have knowledge covering every subject known to mankind, but especially that of recovering dysfunctional. They proudly display their knowledge in each and every meeting by speaking with self-appointed authority about the topic under discussion. Being courteous, they wait to be the last person to share in a meeting (or until the internal pressure is about to cause spontaneous combustion) before gracing the group with their immense wisdom. They then go through a series of "one-upmanship" comments about previous speakers to prove how much more knowledge they have than their peers. In or out of the meetings they are always ready to tell others the right way (their way) to manage their lives. One friend, I'll call her Kati, constantly seeks to tell others how she has found the answers. She'll pry her way into a conversation, probing a person to reveal a personal dilemma, all in the name of helping a fellow human being. Then Kati will fill the next 15 minutes with a non-stop lecture of what to do to fix the problem. Another example of this type is Jake. He always tells others how "he thought that he knew he knew." Of course, that was before he really knew anything, but now he knows. Dominators also seek to be the center of attention. They accomplish this act by quite literally dominating conversations. One way they do this is by speaking as frequently and as long as present company will permit. Frequently, they speak and act outside the "norm." That is, the normal speech volume for them is usually twice as loud as most people. They will also act with an over-excited amount of compassion for their point, as they speak down from their Olympian heights.
The next groups, the defenders, are on the other end of the spectrum. They are always seeking help but seem to share a similar need with the dominators-to be at the center of attention. Their grand purpose in life appears to be draining the life out of others. Easily recognizable, they speak with a chronic neediness and will beg for help from nearly anyone. Hardly ever will they try to seek answers for their problems in any manner other than to act on what others tell them to do. Being considerate of others is not usually part of their character. If they need to call at 3 a.m. to cry out their blues to a sleepy sponsor, that is perfectly acceptable to defenders. Or if they need to spill their guts for two hours over coffee, well that's all right too. Defenders have a dire need for attention, but they display it with a whine that any three-year-old wouldn't be caught using. They operate on the opposite extreme from dominators, usually as emotional wrecks. They are easy to spot because of their tear-soaked faces and tissues. Speech for them is usually interrupted by gasps for breath between their broken sentences. What causes further amazement is their repeated tales of misery. These can be told ten different times in a day and never lose an ounce of intensity. Ninety percent of these tales are about broken relationships. If these defenders are lucky, someone from the next group of friends will be there for them.
Somewhere in the middle between the dominators and the defenders are the equalizers, those who are knowledgeable yet open-minded, and helpful rather than self-seeking. First are the "knowledgeable yet open-minded." These equalizers have a firm grasp of the entire program for recovering dysfunctional. They have gained this knowledge through diligent study of the program's text. In addition, they have practical knowledge from working through all the various stages of recovery. Although knowledgeable, they maintain a significant degree of humility. They don't pretend to offer advice they are not qualified to give, such as a psychologist or marriage counselor might give. They also know there is always more to learn, never claiming to have reached any saintly status. Second, unlike the other two groups, equalizers tend to be more helpful than self-seeking. They accomplish this by being attentive listeners. They will read between the lines to see what a person may not be saying. Visually they will watch to see if another person's body language matches their verbal message. Finally, they have a sincere desire to help others. Their point is never more important than the person they are helping; what motivates equalizers is the satisfaction they gain from giving freely of themselves.
In conclusion, recovering dysfunctional share a common behavioral problem in their pasts. However, the first, the dominators, are loud, pompous, know-it-all types. The second, the defenders, are the over-dependent whiners who live off other people's advice. Finally, the equalizers are the stable and compassionate glue that holds the whole group together. Although these types can be found in recovery groups, they can also be found among friends in general. We all probably have friends like these somewhere; wouldn't life be boring without them?

DIVISION OR ANALYSIS

There are many ways that a high school soccer team can lose a game. But, to lose every game in one season is another story. First, you must start off with the skill level of the players. For many of the players on the soccer team it was their first year in playing the sport of soccer. Instead of using practice time to work on any sort of plays, it was used to introduce the basics of soccer to those who did not know how to play the game. The opposing team will already have an advantage over this team because they have more refined skills. Also, the fact that most of the players on this high school varsity soccer team had never played in a varsity game did not help. Some of the players were young and had never played high school sports while others had only played a game or so on the varsity level. The high-set pace of the game and strength in the opposing team’s players overwhelmed this team and overpowered them. Although they may have had the heart of a winning team and the will to not give up in games, it was just not enough to overcome the opposing team.

CLASSIFICATION

Most of the high schools in the United States function the same way. For many students, it is seen as a burden with more homework and school time taking away their social time. But for the hard working students, it is a place where they can thrive. High school is where scholars and potential athletes are born and supported. They hone their skills here in order to be successful in college and/or their career. It should be safe haven for these teenagers, keeping them away from the drugs and violence that surround the real world. It is a place where friends meet to further their education in order to survive in the not-so-far future. These teenagers are introduced to the common necessities needed in order to live as an adult. These athletes who are not yet idolized still play for the love of the game instead of money. They have the heart to play their sport not because they need to play, but because they want to. The students work hard because they know what they need to study in order to get into college. High school is the starting ground for the future of your life.

CAUSE AND EFFECT

This season, Shaquille O’Neal was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Miami Heat. There are many ideas that are floating around of the reason Shaq wanted out of the Lakers. The most popular idea was the fact that he did not have a good relationship with his teammate, Kobe Bryant. Shaq and Kobe did not get along to well because they both played the same way, greedy. Even though it appeared that they were good teammates together, this bonding did not go farther than the games. Shaq wanted someone who he could play with without having to deal with a ball hog like Kobe. It did not appear that Shaq liked where he was playing and who he was playing with, so he opted to leave. Apparently, this decision has worked out for Shaq with his stats being increased in a major way and helping out his new team.

DEFINITION

There is a reason why gambling is only legal in a few states and there is age limit on it. This addiction can start at almost any age when a person can use money in order to gamble it in the hope of winning more. Some one who is addicted to gambling usually includes gambling into everyday life. He or she may bet on ordinary things from sporting events to the name of a song that they do not remember. If the person is seriously addicted, then nothing seems to entertain them unless it is gambled on. This is a serious addiction because it can lead to many bad things in the person's future. They could lose all of their money, their friends because it interferes with the gambling and sometimes even their life if they cross the wrong persons path. This addiction is not to be taken lightly and whoever has a problem with it needs to seek help. The gambler can be helped before it is too late because it a mental addiction and not a physical addiction. Their addiction is only in their mind, while some one who is addicted to drugs is physically addicted. When you are physically addicted to something, then when you stop using it, your body is unable to function the way it used to without it. This gambling problem can easily be stopped if the proper steps are taken.

ARGUMENT AND PERSUASION

According to the rare few, Lacrosse or "Lax" is a one of the most popular sports here in the United States. But, if you actually ask most of the people in the U.S., it is safe to say that many of them did not even know that this sport was still around. While many teenagers know how to play the more basic sports like basketball, football, and baseball, there are only a few who know how to play the game of lacrosse. Most of the high schools in the East do not sponsor lacrosse and it still not that popular even out West. It can easily be proved that there is rarely any lacrosse games on television. How can this sport be so popular if you cannot even watch a single game on tv? Did you know that there was even a professional league?Apparently this sport is too popular for the common public to even know about it's existence. There is no way that lacrosse can even compete with the popularity that baseball and football have in this country.

Nanotechnology is one of the most important sciences in the world today. We are constantly hearing about nanotechnology, and how it can be used to help people in so many ways, so why is this just an optional field of study for those who choose to continue to a higher education? Why not teach generation after generation the miracles of such a branch of science while they are in high school? In fact, the education should begin as young as preschool, where children read books containing the word “nanotechnology”, with stories about how billy and his dog spot visited a nano technologist. As they continue through grade school, kids will develop a strong interest in the sciences, especially molecular nanotechnology, learning how we can build marvelous buildings, tools, materials, etc. using such technology. The class will become one of the core classes children take: english, math, with nanotechnology in between penmanship and lunch. What better way to advance our own society in such important fields, than to have our children graduate high school already advanced nano technologists? To begin training nano technologists now will ensure our future, the future of our children, this nation, and the rest of the world. We cannot, and will not survive the coming years without such advancement, and knowledgeable experts in the field of nanotechnology.

Today’s honor student has high standards.  Every college is looking for this student when they receive their applications, but how do they define the honor student?    Many people see an honor student as having the good grades.  Of course one can not solely base their definition on grades.  Being an honor student is much, much more than grades, or making honor roll.  Even someone who is enrolled in all advanced or honors classes does not necessarily meet the definition of an honor role student.  Simply having a 3.8 GPA does not qualify a student as an honor student.  An honor student must be one who excels throughout all aspects of his life throughout high school.  The honor student also has many personal values he exhibits throughout his four years in high school.  For example, an honor student needs to be hard working, with a positive outlook and attitude.  To socially    Many honor students today are also three sport athletes who work and volunteer their time all week, with little time for their own personal needs.  Obviously such a student would also have an exemplary discipline record, no one would consider a dunce or disruptive student an honor student.  Although not all honor students share this trait, many are polite and well mannered teenagers, something rare to find.  The honor student today is a well mannered, student athlete with excellent manners, and exceptionally high values, which is quite the contrast to the classical view of the honor student.

Cause and Effect
High school dropouts are a very common thing these days. It is not unusual to walk into a fast food restaurant these days and see a high school aged kid working, when he should be in school, but why is this? Teens these days do not realize their own potential, so they give very little to no effort in their classes. The bad grades they receive as a result of this attitude only frustrates these students more. Between their bad attitude and their laziness their grades worsen, until one day these lost pupils give up; they decide they don't want to put the effort into school. They finally give up, and drop out of school, some of them return and try again, some don’t. Many opt to take a test and receive a GED, some do not. What these former students don’t realize when they drop out is that they are giving up a potentially educational and fulfilling future. They loose their chance to go to a good college, so unless some of these kids consider GCC a fine education, they’re missing out. They also may not make as much money as someone who graduates. Dropping out of high school directly hinders the rest of ones future.

Classification
The Palestinian intifada has been labeled for years as “terrorism”, but how does one classify a terrorist?  Many people see the nation of Israel as victims of this “terror”, but apparently there is a difference between when Israelis kill innocents as opposed to when Arabs kill innocents.  When a suicide bomber blows himself up, this is rightfully classified as terrorism by most of the world.  However, when the nation of Israel commits a horrible act it is accepted.  On September 16 the , 1982 , when Israeli and Lebanese Phalangists  troops entered the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Shatilla and massacred 1,500-3,000 Palestinian men, women, and children there was no action taken against them.  The United Nations General Assembly condemned the massacre and declared it an act of genocide, but that was it.  Israel continued on their merry way.  So it’s ok for Israel to slaughter thousands of innocent people, but when eight people die on a bus it is the most horrendous act ever committed by any man.  This is wrong, and nations need to rethink their policies on terrorism, and who they classify as a terrorist.  The death of innocent people is never justified, but some acts of “terrorism” are grater than others.

Analysis
A successful defense in lacrosse has certain elements to it; many which are present in other sports such as soccer, basketball, and hockey. A four on four situation could require a zone or man to man defense, so right off the bat there are different scenarios. Many teams choose a man to man defense; the defensive players will each mark up on one of the offensive players. As the offense moves the ball around the defense plays in a tight formation: the trick is too stay with your man without letting too much space form between you and your teammates; if there is too much space an offensive player can take advantage of such a situation. When you find yourself covering the man with the ball, you must always keep between him and the goal; this is one the most important rules of defensive play in any sport. The defensive player must have their hips square to the offensive player, and drive them to the outside with checks. Eventually they will be forced to either try and get by you, or pass the ball, but as long as they do not get a chance to shoot and score the defensive player has done his job.

Argument/Persuasion

Dear mom and dad,
You brought me into this world living in Greenfield, Massachusetts. We have lived in Greenfield the entire sixteen years of my life. We have had the same neighbors for over a decade. My best friend has lived next to me for eight years now. The city of Greenfield is like the back of my hand. I know everything about it. My friends and I have been going to school together since we were in diapers. Yet on the day before yesterday both of you approached me and told me some very intriguing news. Dad said that he has been offered a job in Los Angeles and he really likes the offer. He also said that this would mean that we would have to move during Christmas break. As bad as this may be I do not want to leave our home we have in Greenfield. There are a couple of reasons why I do not want to leave.
My first reason is the city of Greenfield itself. Greenfield has so many places you can go and have fun like the skate park, the Energy Park, Greenfield swimming pool, beacon field, poets seat tower, the bike path, etc. all of the stores that you can visit like Strawberries, Wilson’s, Clarks Sport Shop, Bicycle World, All About Music, Zemi’s, etc. Plus you can’t forget about the movie theaters. Those are all the things that make the city of Greenfield my home.
My second reason would be my friends. Having my friends around has made me a better person. They have kept me out of trouble and always been there for me during the worst. Like when uncle pat died, it was Bobby who was there for me when I felt low and blue. They have kept me athletic by always wanting to play football or baseball or some physical sport. We have all been friends since the beginning and i'm not about to be the first one to leave and abandon my friends like that, when all they have ever done is been there for me. Now I need to do the same for them.
My third reason would be my school. I love going to Greenfield High School. So what if the building sucks and the teachers get low pay. The fact is that GHS has been my school for two years and I don’t want to leave midway through high school to start over. I enjoy going to GHS and I would never leave to go anywhere else except for college. I love playing sports and participating in after school activities with the other students of GHS. I love GHS and I will finish what I have started by graduating with a diploma from Greenfield High School.
So mom and dad I am really sorry but the facts speak for themselves. If you still decide to go that is okay with me. I have already looked into another place for me to say. Grandma has already said I can stay with her until I find a permanent place or I can stay with here for permanent. I love all of those things and I can’t just drop everything and move away. I have a life here now. So if you decide to go I ask you to let me stay here and continue my life.

Cause and Effect

For everything a person does in their life it is considered cause and effect. Every choice you make in your life creates a cause which always has effects on you or somebody else. When you run for a long time your cause is running while your effect would be getting into shape or becoming very tired eventually. The food you eat and the liquids you consume are part of cause and effect. If you decide to eat an apple you will receive nutrients from the fruit itself. If you drink milk you are acquiring certain amounts of calcium and other vitamins. Everything that happens in life is cause and effect because everything you do will have an effect on someone or something. For example we will examine a person who decides that he wants to be an asshole to people who are weaker than and just not as mean as himself.
This kid will be called Joe for now. Joe decides he is going to go to school and cause havoc for underclassmen. Joe goes to school and pushes kids around and threatens them, you know the whole bully act and everything. Well Joe decides to go into the bathroom and punch some kid for no reason (some people actually do this but we are speaking hypothetically here.) so this poor kid just got punched. Joe feels tough and walks away without helping the kid or anything. Well this kid goes home and tells his big brother Robert who happens to go to the same school and is older than Joe and also does not like Joe. Robert is very angry about what has happened to his kid brother. When Robert goes to school and sees Joe he approaches him and pounds him until he can’t get up.
Now this happens a lot but let us look at the lesson here. There are always bigger fish in the sea. You can’t expect to do something like punch someone and not have repercussions. Who knows, maybe those repercussions wont happen the next day or the next week but karma has its way of dealing with things. Cause and effect is very simple: do not do anything stupid without thinking before you do it. Whatever you do or cause there is always an effect to it.

Classification

The process of classification is a simple process. You take a subject or whatever and you break it up into smaller groups that you can describe to the reader. There are a couple of different kinds of classification. One type would be binary which is when you can easily separate the two groups by one being positive and one being negative. Hence the colors black and white. Black being bad and white being good. You can almost always take anything and break it up into groups such as positive and negative. There are harder and more complicated ways of using classification but today we are sticking to binary because it is easy enough for the common person to understand.
The example for classification today will be music. When a person thinks music they think rock, rap, country, punk, metal and so forth. But those five are what we like to call mainstream music. Those are the most common genres that pop into a persons mind when they think music. Music is classified into these groups or genres because of the styles.
With rock music you usually have drums and guitars playing in the background of either a mellow voiced guy singing or some “I want to be a girl” guy who is screaming in such awful ways I can’t describe them in words. This music called rock stands out to the typical teenager who is angry and pissed off at the world and likes to listen to cool popular bands yell about their problems. It makes them feel better about themselves.
Rap music has more beats than actual music. Actually I don’t even know how people consider rap music but that’s a personal opinion. It’s all sound boards and technological stuff with some jacked guy with no shirt singing about drugs, naked women, and all the money he has. Usually people who think they are from New York City or actually the Bronx and Los Angeles listen to this music. Usually those people are from hick towns like Greenfield Massachusetts though.
Other music like country stands out to women and people in the south.
Metal is kind of like the whole rock thing but a lot harder.
So that’s classification. You take something you break it up into small things. Music works. You can say what it represents, who listens, etc. the common person uses classification at least once a day.

Definition

In football you have eleven players who play offense and eleven players who play defense. Each side of the ball has a leader or many leaders but there is always that one person who can lead the way for his team the best. For most football teams that person is the quarterback. The quarterback will step out onto the field and look into the eyes of ten other players and understand that they look up to him. Not only do they look up to him but because he is the leader they expect him to make decisions that will lead them to victory. The quarterback must know what each and every individual is doing for every play so he can make the best decision every time. A leader is also formed by trust. When the quarterback walks out onto the field and gets into formation he trusts that his linemen are going to protect him and in return he will get the ball out of the pocket smoothly. The quarterback will trust that the receivers will be where they are suppose to be during the play so he has somebody to throw to. When the quarterback hands the ball off to the halfback he expects and trusts that the halfback will find the open slot and break free. When your team can trust somebody enough that they will sacrifice their body for that person play after play then you truly have a player who possesses the leadership quality of leading a team to great achievements.

Division and Analysis

The game of baseball is not about standing on a field and waiting for the batter to make contact with the ball. People don’t wake up one morning and say “I want to play baseball today because I feel like it”. Of course a person can do that but they have a lot of work ahead of them. To be a good baseball player you have to practice. Practicing though doesn’t mean throwing a baseball around for twenty minutes and retiring for the day. Practice means getting yourself prepared both physically and mentally. To prepare mentally a baseball player will usually watch baseball or play a baseball video game to get into the groove of the season. Another thing baseball player’s do to mentally prepare themselves is just simply talk about baseball and think about it a lot.
When physical preparation time comes this is usually where team practices begin. The occasional player might have already started running and jogging a couple weeks before to get into shape but most players wait until season begins. Practice enables the baseball player to develop quick speed and certain aerobic ways of controlling the balance of himself so he can run without tripping or falling over in the middle of the bases. Lots of stretches come as well so the player is able to run lots of sprints to prepare for base running. Next is throwing the baseball. This is what baseball is about. Certain techniques are taught to players to so they have a better handle on their mechanics and skill of throwing a baseball. Outfielders and infielders separate and learn their different techniques to prepare them to handle situations at their positions.
A successful season is based on the mental and physical shape of the team. Baseball is a team sport so one or two players can’t carry a team to victory. You need the entire team to be prepared. The achievements and success of a baseball team are based on the mental and physical condition of the team. They must be strong in every player in order to have a successful season.

Argument/Persuasion
The MCAS is a standardized test that all high school students in the state of Massachusetts are required to pass in order to graduate. The test is issued in the spring of student’s sophomore year, and they had four chances to pass. The MCAS test is divided between five days. The MCAS is an unnecessary test that creates extra stress for students that could be avoided. There is a test that already exists that tests students in the areas of English and Math, it is the SAT. The new SAT even has an essay on it. The MCAS is just a duplicate of the SAT. The only reason to pass the MCAS is because it is a graduation requirement. If the state of Massachusetts wants a standardized test that is mandatory for all students to pass, they should require all students to achieve a certain score on the SAT’s to graduate, therefore eliminating the extra test. It would save the state an incredible amount of money. The state would not have to pay for the making of the test, the paper, and the people who make the questions on the test. They wouldn’t have to pay anyone to correct the test either. By removing the MCAS the state would be saving money, it is a pointless and redundant test.

An honor student is also known as a student who is advanced, smart, bright, or intelligent. A student is someone who is being taught. What makes a high school honors student? To be an honor student in high school means to be above average. The honor students should be the students who are willing to work a little harder and faster than the standard class. Honor students need to be above average, and faster workers so that they are able to get through the work quicker. They also should be able to learn quickly without a lot of assistants. Honor students are not always honor students in every subject either. Some student’s strong subjects are math, but they aren’t good at writing or visa versa. Some students are just naturally very understanding, and logical thinkers and are able to picture things, or work things out in their heads. An honor student is someone who is able to work faster and more efficiently.
Cause and Effect
Reading has become something that kids now dread, when it used to be a form of entertainment. Most kids now think of reading as a chore, or something they have to do for school. Just in my family you can see how the younger generations don’t read as much as the older ones do. My sister is the oldest of us four kids, she was addicted to reading and would spend most Saturdays locked in her room with a book, but as a result she was a very good writer, and is now graduated from college, where she majored in English. Growing up we did not have a television, or any videogames. My older brother and I grew up reading also. We didn’t read as much as our sister, because we spent a significant amount of time outside also. We finally got a TV about 4 years ago, along with it, came a Nintendo, and a X-box. So now my younger brother spends less time outside, and a lot less amount of time reading. For kids reading is to time consuming, America has been changed to fast food nation. We want everything quickly, and we don’t want to work for it. There is fast food where you can get a meal in 5 minutes. We have diet pills for people who don’t want to work on losing. People have just become lazy.
Classification
In singing there are four basic voice parts. There is Soprano, which is the high female voice. Sopranos generally sing the melody. The other female part is alto, which is for a singer who has a lower range. The alto is mainly a harmony part. Then males are split into two different groups also, there is tenor for the higher male voice, and bass for the lower. Both of which are additional harmony parts. To sing harmony takes a lot of ear training, and listening skills. Sometimes there are males who sing alto or soprano because there range is the same as a females, and sometimes there females with extremely low voices who sing tenor, but females rarely if ever sing bass. The melody is mainly sung by sopranos, but depending on the song, any of the other parts could have the melody, and sometimes the melody switches between the different voices. Those four parts are also able to be broken down into as many parts needed for a song also. If you divided the soprano into two, the higher is soprano 1, and the lower is soprano 2. That is the same with all the different voices. A person’s vocal range, and their ability to hear harmonies is what separates the voices.
Analysis
Sonnet 79, by William Shakespeare, is done with all the right rules. It is done in iambic pentameter, the whole way through. He does state the problem in the first 8 lines, and resolves it in the end. (Whilst I alone did call upon thy aid.) When I was the only one who called upon you for inspiration. (My verse alone had all thy gentle grace.) Only my poetry expresses your beauty and elegance. (But now my gracious numbers are decayed. But now my gracious poetry has become of no worth. (And my sick muse doth give another place.) My inspiration has become feeble and is to another person.( I grant (sweet love) thy lovely argument, Deserves the travail of a worthier pen.) I grant sweet love, and your loveliness, deserves the work of a better writer. (Yet what of thee thy poet doth invent.) Yet whatever your new poet invents about you. (He robs thee of and pays it thee again.) He doesn’t invent it he steals it, then gives it back to you. (He lends thee virtue and he stole that word ) He lends you what is not his. (From thy behavior beauty doth he give.) He finds beauty in what you do. (And found it in thy cheek he can afford.)
He found the beauty, that he needs to write, in your cheek. The poet has a bad imagination.(No praise to thee but what in thee doth live.) He doesn’t really praise you except what is naturally inherent to you. (Then thank him not for that which he doth say.) So don’t give him thanks for his poems. (Since what he owes thee, thou thyself doth pay.) Since everything that he owes to you for being your poet, you yourself can fulfill, because his is not worth it.
